The Roll Off Dumpster Driver is responsible for safely operating a collection truck while providing complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, the Roll Off Dumpster Driver must ensure that his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Company's safety standards prior to operating the vehicle and that all Company, state, and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle. Finally, the Roll Off Dumpster Driver will have to complete daily vehicle condition reports, so any vehicle defects can be repaired in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Courteously interact with all dumpster customers, dispatchers, and co-workers daily to certify all customer routes are serviced in a professional manner and to exceed customer expectations.
  • Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition and report any safety issues on standards reports.
  • Safely operate a heavy dumpster truck along designated route and to the disposal site.
  • Service each customer as identified on the dumpster route sheet or as assigned by the dispatched and/or supervisor.
  • Complete required dumpster route.
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected materials at the designated facility.
  • Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
  • Be physically capable of performing heavy lifting (50-100 pounds).
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptance waste.
  • Clean the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip and the area around an accidental waste spill while ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
  • Good time management skills to complete assigned responsibilities in an efficient manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth to promote the Company’s safety standards.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Operations Manager.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily to successfully perform the job. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
  • 2+ years of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills.

Driving Record Requirements:

  • No tickets in the last 3 years for speeding 15 mph over the speed limit, reckless driving, improper or erratic lane changes, following a vehicle too closely, texting while driving, or “hit and run.”
  • No accidents in the last 3 years for preventable DOT reportable accidents.
  • Never have been found to have driven a CMV under the influence of alcohol.
  • Never have abandoned equipment.
